Why We Built This Site
Louisiana Public Records Law, R.S. 44:1, sets a public-record framework, with exceptions and access limits that still matter. In Richland Parish, the Richland Parish Clerk of Court is the principal custodian for civil and criminal filings in the Fifth Judicial District Court. The assigned division handles hearings and orders. Appeals belong to the Second Circuit Court of Appeal, and municipal cases in Rayville, Delhi, or Mangham may remain with a town clerk or a city-linked citation vendor. Knowing that division of responsibility helps separate a docket entry, minute entry, filed document, and certified copy.
What You Will Find Here
The reference paths are grouped by the record or event a reader needs to locate:
- Criminal and civil dockets: search paths and local record terms in Criminal Court Dockets and Civil Court Dockets
- Court dates: regular hearing patterns and case-specific confirmation through the Court Schedule
- Case lookup: Richland Clerk, LCRAA, and courthouse access details in Docket Search
- Copies and files: the difference between an entry, document, plain copy, and certified copy in Court Case Records
What We Cannot Do
This is a privately run reference site. It is separate from Louisiana courts, the Richland Parish Clerk of Court, and state or local agencies. It has these limits:
- It cannot retrieve an official docket sheet or case file for a visitor
- It cannot set, move, or confirm a court date or hearing setting
- It cannot remove, seal, or alter a court case or docket entry
- It cannot issue certified copies of an order, docket, or other court document
- It cannot provide legal advice or interpret how a filing applies to a particular matter
- It cannot guarantee that an office contact, fee, or setting is still current
An official or certified copy must come from the clerk or court holding the record. For a Fifth Judicial District Court case, the first records contact is ordinarily the Richland Parish Clerk of Court.
Search Partners
Some pages contain search boxes supplied by outside providers. The providers operate those services, determine any prices, and control the results they return. A paid enrollment reached through a search box may generate a referral fee, but that relationship does not give this resource control over a provider's charges, coverage, or accuracy.
